My life has gone to the dogs!

Welcome to my glamorous life of dog fur, endless slobbery kisses & nonstop tail wagging. It's all worth it, as dogs are the best therapy for the soul.

My name is Sue Morgan, I am married to my best friend and partner in crime. We have 3 kiddos and also 7 fur babies. They are actually all adults, but I always call them pups or fur babies. We have 4 Tollers, 1 Boston Terrier (the old spoiled guy in the bunch), and 2 kitty cats.

We live in a small country town and have lots of space to roam and explore the great outdoors. We love to do anything that involves being out in nature from winter to summer.

In my blog I will be chatting about everything dogs from:

-health

-breeding

-AI (artificial insemination)

-dog pregnancy/whelping

-raising puppies

-puppy culture

-ENS (early neurological stimulation)

-grooming

-training

-my everyday funny & crazy life with pets

Besides my human family, my pets have always been a very important part of my life. I have always had a pets in my life, and I was known as the animal whisperer in the family. I trained them, fed and cared for them, played with them, and groomed them all of my growing up.

I have over 40 years experience with dogs, 37 years of dog training, 25 years of professional dog training, 25 years of grooming, 10 years of breeding experience, but 4 years of breeding experience with my own Tollers. I have tube fed my puppies, I have AI'd my females, I have a lot of vet tech type experiences. I have studied and learned all I can in all aspects of these areas. I want the healthiest, happiest dogs I can possibly have because I love them. I want them around as long as possible.

I definitely don't claim to know it all, and I definitely don't claim that my way is better than anyone else's. I just know what I have done has worked for me, and has helped me & my dogs have a happy health life.

I have a few favorite sayings, but one I like to say is: It's good if you like it. My advise or ideas are good if you like it, and if you don't it won't hurt my feelings. I have appreciated anyone along my path who has been willing to share what they've learned, we are all here to learn from each other and help each other out. That is why I am writing this blog, to share what I've learned.

About me personally- I like to be active, I like adventures, I like to be spontaneous. I am a very simple person, I don't like a lot of extra frills, I don't like stress or unnecessary worry. Life is too short to stay angry or hold grudges. I want to work hard and play hard. I want to enjoy life through the hard & and the good times. I want to play with my family & make memories with my family both human and furry, as they grow way too fast. I am most the time a goof, I make up words or use words that make my kids go HUH? I am ready to go and do at a moments notice.

Shortly after my husband and I were married I started working at a pet grooming facility, it was in the same building as the veterinarian next door. Not long after my husband and I bought our first dog together, a Great Dane. We wanted to show our dog in all of the competitions we could. He was the biggest goof and super athletic for a Great Dane. We showed him for the first years of his life, but soon decided that wasn't the seen for us. We were more about camping, hiking, biking, skiing and all the things in between.

A year after working at the grooming shop we bought the shop from the owner who moved out of state. I owned and ran the grooming shop for 8 years. We groomed every breed of dog and also did pet boarding. We always got to go help the vet next door with things and vise versa, as we were great friends. I learned a lot.

We did all kinds of obedience classes and courses with our Great Dane. Having a dog before kids was the best thing we did, we knew just what to do with kids after raising dogs.....bahaha..... ya right! It's not nearly as easy to get your kids to sit & stay like the dogs would, haha. After our Great Dane started aging we decided we needed a puppy for him to train.

We got our first golden retriever, but his coat was a beautiful red. He and our Great Dane were best buds, our Great Dane taught him all the dog ways. We loved the athletic nature of the retriever. After we had golden retrievers for 14 years we decided once again we needed another puppy for him to train before he passed on. We found a Boston Terrier at the pound and rescued him, he hadn't been treated that well in the past. He was a year and a half when we got him, but he was an angel from the beginning and such a clown.

Our kids got Dairy Cows each summer that they raised to show and sell. When we couldn't do that one year, that is when we decided we wanted to get more into dog shows for the kids. When we first saw the Toller, we did some extensive research. We loved retrievers and loved the red color so when we were introduced to the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever we instantly knew that is what we wanted.

Everything about their high energy, quirky personalities, athletic nature and intelligence was just what we wanted. That is what got us into Tollers. We now have 4 Tollers and that is where we are today. We have our 4 Tollers and our 1 Boston Terrier, and 2 cats that love to tease and tantalize our dogs. One minute they are chasing each other around, and the next they are laying on the porch chilling by each other.

Thanks for checking out my blog. I hope you enjoy dog talk, cause that is what goes on around here most days. It gets stinky and slobbery, but it's always full of love & joy. Animals are just funny & bring joy. It's always exciting to see what happens next around here. Anything and everything dogs!
